Application Specialist

The Application Specialist manages homeowner application pipelines, verifies documentation, coordinates underwriting components, and supports closing and funding processes. This role focuses on accuracy, efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure smooth investment processing and exceptional customer experience.

Hometap is seeking an Application Specialist to support its investment operations team in delivering a seamless home equity investment experience. This remote role focuses on reviewing homeowner applications, verifying documentation, and coordinating cross-functional processes to ensure timely closing and funding. The position plays a critical role in maintaining operational accuracy and efficiency while supporting the company’s mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible.  

Responsibilities:  
- Manage and process a pipeline of homeowner applications from submission through funding.  
- Obtain supplemental documentation from homeowners using internal task management systems.  
- Order and coordinate third-party vendor services required for underwriting assessments.  
- Review and verify application documentation for completeness and accuracy.  
- Conduct initial package reviews to determine eligibility for underwriting progression.  
- Collaborate with Sales, Signing, and Funding teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.  

Requirements:  
- 1–3 years of experience in loan processing, finance operations, compliance, servicing, paralegal work, or application review.  
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high accuracy and efficiency standards.  
- Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.  
- Excellent written communication and problem-solving abilities.  
- Proficiency with computer systems and CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce.  
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
