The Director / Senior Director, Sales & Business Development drives commercial growth for the Immune Medicine business, generating revenue, managing strategic partnerships, and leading a high-performing sales team across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic markets.

Job Description

 

Adaptive Biotechnologies is seeking a Director or Senior Director, Sales & Business Development to execute the commercial growth strategy for its Immune Medicine business. This player–manager role is responsible for generating revenue, leading a sales team, and expanding strategic partnerships across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions.


Responsibilities:
- Directly generate Immune Medicine sales revenue and secure new bookings.
- Own and grow a portfolio of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic accounts.
- Prospect, negotiate, and close fee-for-service research agreements and strategic partnerships.
- Manage contract negotiations including CDAs, MSAs, and Statements of Work.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, R&D, and Operations to execute agreements.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team to exceed revenue targets.


Requirements:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD with extensive progressive experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries (15+ years for Director; 17+ years for Senior Director).
- Minimum 5+ years of sales or commercial leadership experience with demonstrated revenue generation.
- Proven experience managing and developing sales teams.
- Strong understanding of research markets and drug development including genomics and immunology.
- Executive presence with strong negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in matrixed, fast-paced environments.
