Mainframe Datacom Database Admin

The Mainframe Datacom Database Admin will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing Datacom environments on mainframe systems, leading incident response, ensuring database integrity, and collaborating with teams to deliver reliable, high-quality database operations in a fully remote role.

Vista Innovative Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Mainframe Datacom Database Admin to support and manage complex Datacom database environments within a fully remote setting. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of mission-critical mainframe systems while providing technical leadership and operational support across production environments.

Responsibilities:
- Debug system software issues and coordinate with technical support to resolve incidents.
- Lead incident management efforts, including service restoration and post-incident reviews.
- Maintain Datacom DataDictionary objects, including databases, areas, tables, keys, and elements.
- Perform impact assessments following DataDictionary changes and manage change-related tasks.
- Execute backup, recovery, reorganization, and online maintenance using DBUTLTY and related utilities.
- Support production on-call rotations and participate in Agile-based workload management.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Datacom technology in a DBA or database engineering role.
- Strong understanding of Datacom architecture, logging, recovery, and accounting tables.
- Experience with JCL, z/OS utilities, TSO/E, ISPF, and mainframe operational processes.
- Ability to analyze job output, resolve batch failures, and assist with performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of COBOL copybooks, URTs, CICS Service Facility, and IPC components.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a team environment.
