Backpack Healthcare is looking for a highly organized Credentialing Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is essential to ensuring that all clinical staff meet regulatory and credentialing standards while maintaining accuracy and efficiency across all processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the credentialing and re-credentialing process for clinical staff including psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists.
- Conduct thorough verifications of education, licensure, certifications, and professional references.
- Maintain and update credentialing records, databases, and documentation in compliance with privacy standards.
- Collaborate with HR, Compliance, and Clinical Operations to collect necessary documentation.
- Serve as a liaison with insurance companies, government agencies, and other credentialing entities to resolve issues promptly.
- Submit and maintain payor contracts, working with leadership to negotiate rates and maintain payer relationships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of healthcare credentialing experience, preferably in mental health or pediatric healthcare.
- Strong understanding of credentialing processes, NCQA, URAC, and other regulatory standards.
- Proficiency with credentialing platforms including CAQH and credentialing databases.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in Medical Staff Services (CMSS) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is a plus.
