Design Engineer

Circle is a fully-remote platform for online communities integrating chat, events, courses, and payments. As a Design Engineer, you will turn Figma concepts into functional, high-fidelity prototypes using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind. This role emphasizes AI-assisted front-end development, rapid prototyping, and bridging design intent with engineering execution for faster validation and stakeholder alignment.

Circle provides an all-in-one platform for creators and communities, integrating discussions, live events, chat, courses, and payments. As a Design Engineer, you will work closely with product designers to translate Figma designs into live, interactive prototypes using AI-assisted development tools in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities:
- Work 1:1 with product designers to turn Figma concepts into high-fidelity, live prototypes rapidly.
- Build prototypes using the same technologies as production front-end: React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
- Utilize AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to generate and refine prototypes efficiently.
- Translate multi-screen Figma flows into working code, collaborating directly with designers throughout iteration.
- Deploy prototypes to preview environments for feedback, async review, and stakeholder alignment.
- Offer input on technical feasibility, complexity, and component reuse.
- Manage multiple workstreams, balancing major implementations with quick iteration or refinement needs.
- Collaborate closely with the design system and front-end engineering teams.

Requirements:
- 3+ years building web interfaces with React, modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools for front-end development and prototyping.
- Experience translating polished design specifications into functional code.
- Familiarity with Git workflows and preview deployments (e.g., Vercel).
- Strong visual and interaction fidelity with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work asynchronously and collaboratively.
- Background in web design or front-end development with AI-assisted prototyping experience.
