The Product Designer, Social role focuses on designing engaging social experiences that help players connect, communicate, and feel part of the Chess.com community. This position works closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver high-quality user experiences across web and mobile platforms. The role balances creativity, usability, and consistency while contributing to a fun and healthy social ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and design partners to define requirements and deliver social features.
- Design high-quality user interfaces for web and mobile using established design systems.
- Create experiences that support player connection across areas such as profiles, friends, chat, and leaderboards.
- Present design work clearly, explaining decisions using user insights and design principles.
- Build and iterate on prototypes to communicate ideas and support implementation.
- Own design projects end-to-end, ensuring strong alignment between design and final implementation.
Requirements:
- 2–3 years of experience as a Product Designer on consumer-facing products or games.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UI and UX design skills.
- Solid understanding of typography, color, layout, hierarchy, and interaction design.
- Experience designing responsive interfaces for web and mobile platforms.
- Familiarity working with established design systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in remote team environments.
