The Centre for Information Resilience is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead Sudan Witness, a flagship open source intelligence project documenting conflict incidents and alleged human rights violations in Sudan. This consultancy role combines strategic leadership, donor engagement, and technical oversight in a complex and fast-moving conflict environment.
Responsibilities:
- Define and oversee the strategic vision, impact, and outputs of the Sudan Witness project
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of investigators, OSINT analysts, and GIS specialists
- Provide quality assurance and technical guidance on investigations and analytical outputs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, ensuring confidence in impact and delivery
- Oversee engagement with partners including civil society organisations, media, and accountability bodies
- Guide resource allocation, risk management, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks
Requirements:
- Proven experience leading complex projects in conflict or high-risk environments
- Strong background in OSINT methods applied to human rights and accountability work
- Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams using adaptive management approaches
- Experience working with civil society organisations and delivering capacity strengthening support
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with donors and government bodies
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and leadership capabilities
This full-time, 12-month consultancy role requires the ability to work on UK or East Africa time zones and includes limited travel to the East Africa region and London. It is ideal for a senior leader passionate about applying open source investigations to achieve meaningful human rights impact.
