Manager, Machine Learning

The Manager, Machine Learning role leads an engineering team building agentic AI applications for enterprise and customer use. The Manager, Machine Learning role oversees the engineering team responsible for building and scaling agentic AI applications used by Calix enterprise users and customers. This position balances technical leadership with people management, ensuring high-quality delivery while fostering a strong, collaborative engineering culture.

Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers and AI specialists.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development through regular coaching.
- Define sprint goals, timelines, and deliverables aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of agentic AI applications from concept to production.
- Collaborate with AI and ML engineers to integrate models with data pipelines, APIs, and backend systems.
- Conduct architecture and code reviews to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of software development experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong hands-on coding experience with modern programming languages.
- Experience building agentic AI applications using frameworks such as LangChain or similar tools.
- Understanding of agent design patterns, multi-agent systems, and AI integration architectures.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
