As a Staff Engineer at Celonis, you will bring deep backend engineering expertise to innovative, high-impact projects that advance the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform. You will operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, driving the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-native solutions while providing technical leadership across teams. This role is ideal for experienced engineers who enjoy solving complex problems and influencing engineering excellence at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Own the implementation and delivery of complex backend projects end to end.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the engineering team.
- Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant microservices and distributed systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers across geographies.
- Innovate beyond existing products by researching, prototyping, and delivering new ideas.
- Continuously improve engineering practices, code quality, and development processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years as a backend engineer.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring, JPA, and Hibernate for microservices-based systems.
- Experience building cloud-native systems using Kubernetes and hyperscalers such as AWS.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, testing strategies, and modern Git workflows.
- Proven ability to design complex systems, learn independently, and collaborate effectively.
