Senior Protocol Engineer

The Senior Protocol Engineer will design, optimize, and expand blockchain protocol components, enabling cross-chain integrations and advanced decentralized application capabilities.

Burnt Labs (XION) is seeking a Senior Protocol Engineer to join its protocol team and contribute to the development of scalable, consumer-focused blockchain infrastructure. This role involves building and optimizing core protocol components, enabling seamless cross-chain functionality, and advancing decentralized application capabilities.

Responsibilities:
- Optimize and expand core protocol modules such as authentication, authorization, and fee management  
- Design and implement cross-chain integrations using IBC and non-IBC blockchain systems  
- Develop and integrate zero-knowledge (ZK) proving systems for decentralized applications  
- Enhance testing automation frameworks and internal development tooling  
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Web2 and Web3 ecosystems  
- Research and evaluate emerging protocol technologies to ensure long-term scalability and innovation  

Requirements:
- 8+ years of software development experience  
- 5+ years of experience in blockchain or distributed systems development  
- 3+ years of experience with Cosmos SDK and Golang  
- Strong understanding of IBC protocol and cross-chain architecture  
- Experience building scalable and secure distributed systems  
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
