Airalo is seeking a Senior Engineer, Core Network to lead the design, optimization, and scaling of its global mobile network infrastructure. This role focuses on developing and maintaining packet core architecture that enables seamless connectivity for users across multiple countries and mobile networks. The Senior Engineer will collaborate with global telecom partners and internal teams to ensure high-performance network operations while supporting the company’s growing eSIM platform and expanding global coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Design and scale packet core infrastructure including EPC and 5G core network components
- Manage global roaming connectivity through IPX and GRX providers and partner agreements
- Analyze signaling procedures across 3G, 4G, and 5G networks to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues
- Optimize network flows related to user attachment, bearer creation, and mobile data delivery
- Lead network design reviews and coordinate acceptance testing with infrastructure partners
- Monitor network performance and ensure reliable connectivity for global mobile users
Requirements:
- Significant experience working within a mobile operator, telecom carrier, or equipment provider environment
- Strong understanding of mobile network architectures including 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G technologies
- Deep knowledge of packet core systems such as SGSN, GGSN, MME, and PGW
- Strong expertise in IP networking including BGP routing, subnet design, and ASN management
- Experience analyzing signaling protocols such as Diameter and GTP using tools like Wireshark
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for cross-team collaboration
