Job Description

 

Nerdy is seeking a Senior Director of Product Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams responsible for building and scaling products across its AI-powered learning platform. The role focuses on translating company strategy into technical execution, ensuring that product engineering teams deliver reliable and scalable systems that support global learners and educators. This leader will collaborate closely with product, design, data, and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions while building strong engineering leadership across the organization.


Responsibilities:
- Define and execute long-term technical strategy for multiple product engineering teams
- Partner with product, design, data, and business leaders to align technical roadmaps with company goals
- Establish engineering standards for architecture, quality, reliability, and security
- Lead architectural decisions for complex systems to ensure scalability and performance
- Build and mentor engineering leadership teams including directors and senior managers
- Drive operational excellence through execution frameworks, metrics, and continuous improvement


Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering leadership experience
- Experience managing engineering leaders and distributed product engineering organizations
- Strong track record of delivering scalable and complex software systems
- Deep understanding of modern software development practices and cloud architectures
- Experience with DevOps principles and operational excellence frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams
