The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Director will design, launch, and lead a PMHNP residency program, overseeing curriculum development, accreditation efforts, resident mentorship, and clinical training to advance high-quality child and adolescent psychiatric care.

Job Description

 

Blackbird Health is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Director to lead the development and implementation of its PMHNP Residency Program. Reporting to the VP of Medical Services, this role will design a structured training pathway that prepares psychiatric nurse practitioners to specialize in child and adolescent mental health. The Director will build the program framework, develop curriculum, mentor residents, and guide accreditation efforts to ensure excellence in pediatric psychiatric education.


Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the residency program structure, including clinical ramp schedules and training phases
- Develop and codify a comprehensive PMHNP curriculum covering assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and therapy interventions
- Lead accreditation initiatives and develop expertise in CAPP requirements
- Mentor and supervise residents, supporting their transition into independent clinical practice
- Create and manage resident evaluation systems and performance improvement plans
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to integrate residents into interdisciplinary care models


Requirements:
- Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
- PMHNP-BC certification and active APRN/PMHNP licensure in eligible states
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a CRNP in pediatric mental health
- At least 1 year of experience in an educational or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based pediatric psychiatric practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop medical professionals
