Akero Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Program Director - Regulatory and Clinical Development to lead strategic program and portfolio execution across its development organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, this role serves as the cross-functional integrator aligning regulatory, clinical, finance, and operational priorities. The position drives governance frameworks, portfolio oversight, and transformation initiatives to ensure successful execution of clinical programs.


Responsibilities:
- Own and execute program and portfolio management strategy across development programs.
- Serve as cross-functional integrator ensuring alignment between strategy, execution, and governance.
- Design and lead development governance frameworks and decision-making processes.
- Oversee integrated development plans, timelines, and milestone delivery.
- Manage portfolio-level risk, issue escalation, and mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Finance and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.


Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced scientific degree preferred.
- 15+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical portfolio and project management experience.
- Experience supporting Phase III trials, preferably in liver indications.
- Expertise in governance frameworks and strategic decision-making.
- Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional team development and organizational transformation.
